Will Guam Be Ron Paul's First Win?

CHRON.COM | March 10, 2012
As Ron Paul continues with his strategy to collect delegates this weekend, he’ll look beyond the caucus states to the caucus territories.

Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Northern Marina Islands, offering up nine delegates each, will have their turn to vote this Saturday. In previous years the territory votes have gone to the front-runner, but without a clear leader in the race for the Republican nomination, it’s difficult to predict who will win the support.

Paul hopes to do well in the territories, as caucuses have been the main focus of his campaign. Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Northern Marina Islands are some of the last few caucuses on the road to the Republican National Convention in August.

“Congressman Paul has grassroots supporters in each of those places willing to work hard for a good outcome in their contests,” said Gary Howard, Ron Paul’s National Press Secretary. “Our campaign is hoping for a strong finish in each, and to collect a number of delegates along the way.”
