Libertarian Presidential Candidate To Visit Duke

THE EXAMINER | Bryan Irving | September 10, 2012
This election, as is usually the case, the mainstream media is focusing almost exclusively on subtle nuisances and the predilections of the Democratic and Republican
candidates for president, while ignoring any substantive coverage of the issues important to Americans.

Libertarian presidential candidate Gov. Gary Johnson will join a group of speakers at Duke University on Sept. 20 who will attempt to elevate the discussion above the talking-points and one-liners spouted by the major party candidates.

The event, scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Reynolds Theater, is entitled "Elevate – A Substantive Discussion on Ignored Policy Issue.” Featured speakers in addition to Gov. Johnson will include: John Glaser, assistant editor at Antiwar.com; Robert Shibley, senior vice president of The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education; and Barbara Howe, Libertarian candidate for N.C. governor.

This event is sponsored by the Duke College Libertarians. Co-Sponsors include Duke Political Union, Duke College Republicans, The Roosevelt Institute at Duke and the North Carolina Staste University Young Americans for Liberty.

The event is free and open to the public, but tickets will be handed out at the door to comply with the fire code. The event will be interpreted for the deaf and hard of hearing. Look for updates on the event Facebook page.
