Ron Paul Would Change America

THE GREENVILLE NEWS | Ted Christian | January 20, 2012
The political and media establishment have by this point assumed a transparent “anybody but Ron Paul” stance, and since Ron Paul essentially owns the economic and freedom side of the playing field, their principal tactic is now to claim that a Ron Paul presidency would expose the country to grave danger by bringing the military home from the various wars and occupations the U.S. government is currently conducting. Their claim contains multiple falsehoods.

The first falsehood is the notion itself. The United States has no more need to wage perpetual global warfare than any other country, none of which in fact do.

Their second falsehood is that invasion and ongoing occupation prevent terrorism. The mass carnage of war does not keep people with box cutters from getting on airplanes, and indeed the attacks of 9/11 were for the most part actually driven by the U.S. military being in Saudi Arabia in support of that country’s Islamic dictatorship.

George W. Bush acquiesced to this clear reality by subsequently withdrawing U.S. forces from that country in the aftermath of 9/11.

The third and most insidious falsehood is that those atop the political and media pyramid believe what they’re saying about Ron Paul. Their campaign against him isn’t about national security, it’s about income security — theirs. When Obama said change, he meant nickels and dimes. When Ron Paul says it, he means it. And they know it.
